Spring in the North York Moors means Farndale Daffodils. This is a 10.5 mile circular walk taking in the main daffodil route along the banks of the River Dove, but also climbing up over the ridge ito Bransdale to pass the haunted Bransdale Mill. From the car park at Low Mill, we climb steadily up on to Rudland Rigg.

From the farm we followed way marks across several fields and looked at the imposing Feversham Shooting Lodge and the small church of St Nicholas on the hillside to our left. We descended to reach an old sun dial above Bransdale Mill and this seemed an excellent spot for lunch with fine views in all directions.

According to a 1844 Bransdale and Farndale low Quarter Tithe Map, Cowl House was a 50 acre farm and George Moon was assessed for 7/- tithe payment. Despite the strong association of the Moon Family with Cowl House during the 19th C, this has has not continued in recent decades.
